Israel and Oil
As I struggle to understand the state of affairs my country finds itself in today I am confounded by how our leaders could make such poor and illogical decisions. Since September 11, 2001 it is almost unfathomable how we have come to this moment in time where we find ourselves escalating the quagmire in Iraq, loosing ground in Afghanistan, provoking Iran, and ignoring pressing national and global concerns like the environment, and human rights. My only thoughts revolve around our insatiable thirst for oil and fossil fuels, and our unquestioning allegiance with the right-wing elements in the Israeli government. Until we face each of these problems square on I cannot see how we will be able to substantially solve our own problems much less contribute to any solutions needed for the planet.
